How to Open & Close the Lockbox for Your Rental Car Key

Need to grab your rental car key from the window-mounted lockbox? Here’s your step-by-step walkthrough! We're using a KeyGuard Pro SL-591 weatherproof, window-mounted lockbox.

To Open the Lockbox

  1. Press the CLEAR button
    This resets the keypad.

    Press the CLEAR button to reset the keypad before entering the code.

    Reset the keypad by pressing CLEAR.

  2. Enter the 4-digit code
    This will be provided to you through the app.

    Enter the 4-digit code from the app.

  3. Press and hold the OPEN latch
    The front cover will open from the top. Inside, you'll find your key.

    Hold the OPEN latch to unlock the box.

To Close the Lockbox

  1. If it won’t close, re-enter the code
    Just like when opening, type the code in again.

  2. Hold the OPEN latch down and firmly close the front of the lockbox
    Once it clicks into place, release the latch. The lockbox should now be locked.

    Re-enter the code if the box won’t shut.

  3. Close the weatherproof cover, then remove the lockbox from the window and place it safely inside the car.

    Close the cover and store the lockbox inside.

BOOM! That’s it! You’re all set.
